The heartache of losing photos from the past is hard to describe, but the good news is, these precious keepsakes may still be salvaged. Even if a photograph or important document is completely soaked, providing action is taken quickly, it can be saved.
Be careful not to touch the fragile surface of wet photographs or stack them together. Do not place the items in a plastic bag as sealing damp items accelerates mould formation and other forms of deterioration.
Make sure not to place wet photos in direct sunlight or under direct heat as it may dry the photo or document too quickly causing splits, buckling and other irreversible damage.
